Blengini: "We need to be ready for every match"

Italy defeated Canada in four sets on Tuesday

Hiroshima, Japan, September 8, 2015 - Italy coach Lorenzo Blengini praised his side’s performance in the second and fourth sets of their victory over Canada at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup Japan 2015 on Tuesday, but reminded them they need to be on form for every game of the tournament.

Italy coach Lorenzo Blengini: "We have to be happy with the victory. We approached the first game well. We played good in the second and fourth sets. Canada played well in the first and third sets. They had a good dig. Being mentally, physically, technically, organisationally ready will be the key to each match. That and reflecting on each match will be the key to winning the tournament.

Canada coach Glenn Hoag: "Lorenzo chose his team wisely. It is one of the best I have seen. He has a young setter surrounded by good veterans. We received well. Italy served well with few errors. Our offfense was not that good. We will work on what we need to improve."

Italy captain Simone Buti: "This was the first game. We played better than we thought we would. Canada got the momentum for a while, but we came back. Our setter is young but has the mentality of a winner.

Canada captain Frederic Winters: "It was difficult to start against a team like Italy. They are strong and stable. We got the momentum in the third set but could not keep it. The fourth set they started 6-2 and it was tough for us to come back. Everybody on our team knows we can do better and we will try to come back in the next game."
