Egypt can spike and serve very well: Poland coach

Toyama, Japan, September 17, 2015 – Poland defeated Egypt 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-18) in the FIVB World Cup at Toyama City Gymnasium on Thursday.

Poland coach Stephane Antiga: Maybe it’s normal to win 3-0 but Egypt can spike and serve very well and with those two elements they are very dangerous, so we made a serious game. We wanted to win 3-0 and we did. We didn’t start so well. It was better (than yesterday) but not perfect, but it’s good that we won 3-0. I could make some changes and we didn’t waste so much energy today. So it’s a perfect scenario to prepare for tomorrow’s game.

Poland captain Michal Kubiak: We did what we had to do. We wanted to win 3-0 and this is what happened. It’s another game in this tournament that we’ve won and we have to continue with these feelings we have. Tomorrow we play Australia and I think this will be tough for us because they are a good team. Obviously we have to win against this team because we have to make it to our qualification.

Egypt coach Nehad Shehata: We knew before playing the world champions that they are a strong team, but I’m proud of my players. They played good today and made some good serves. I congratulate Poland; they played good today. They have a good system for block and defence and their serve was also good.

Egypt captain Ahmed Abdelhay: We knew we would be up against a very strong team and they played well with good serve and blocks. But Egypt also played well. We could play freely under no pressure, so I think it was good.
