We have to understand our problems: Iran coach

Tokyo, Japan, September 23, 2015 – Iran defeated Egypt 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-23) in the FIVB Men’s World Cup at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Wednesday.

Iran coach Slobodan Kovac: Today, I saw two teams playing without motivation because it’s the end of the competition. We played a little better, but nothing special. The only positive is that we finished with a victory. We have to try and understand our problems because our first competition next year is the Olympic qualification in Japan. I know my team is better so, we’ll try to prepare as well as possible and be ready for qualification.

Iran captain Mir Saeid Marouflakrani: It was a good match for us because we finished the tournament with a win. But this tournament was not perfect for us, because we could have shown a better performance. But it’s normal and sometimes happens like this in sport.

Egypt coach Nehad Shehata: Actually, we would have like to have finished the competition with a win, but most of the players, especially the younger players, lost their concentration today. I think I can say we hit around 90 per cent of our target; we had a good ranking and got experience for our younger players and the team. So, I’m happy with the performance of my team.

Egypt captain Ahmed Abdelhay: Congratulations to Iran; they played good today. Hard luck for our team but I thank God because we hit our target and there were some positives from this competition. I hope the team will improve in the next competition.
